Project before you produce.
A brand’s large investments are almost always approved on the basis of a description. A space, a new line, a campaign. By the time they are finally seen, the money is already committed.
The sequence is familiar. A direction is approved on paper, it is built, and the result arrives months later. If it does not work, it is corrected on what has been built, which is the most expensive way to correct. The error is not in the decision. It is in the moment it becomes visible.
Projecting changes that order. Before committing building work, production or campaign, the whole is visualised: product, space, channel and image, read from the same identity. You decide by seeing, not by imagining. Artificial intelligence is the tool that makes this possible at marginal cost. It is not what decides.
A case
A sport and wellbeing brand with a limited range. It wanted to know how far it could go if it opened up its product and ran its own spaces. The question was not aesthetic. It was about investment: what to build, in what order and what to leave out.
We projected the brand five years ahead from its root, with product, channel, space and narrative as a single reading. The spaces were seen before they were built. The campaign was seen before it was produced. Whatever did not sustain the identity was discarded on the projection, not on site.
What is discarded in a projection costs nothing. What is discarded after it has been built costs the entire investment.
The projection served to decide. The brand opened a channel on the projected terms. And what did not need to be built, produced or photographed has a figure: an avoided cost we estimate at more than €500,000, across space fit-outs, campaign production and photography, and investment that was never committed.
Where AI comes in and where it does not
AI comes in at the projection. It makes it possible to visualise collection, campaign and space, and to iterate a direction as many times as needed without making a sample or setting up a shoot. Real production arrives with the direction already decided and validated.
It does not come into the diagnosis, the direction, or the responsibility for what is decided. That stays with the team. In the hands of someone without criteria, AI does not solve the problem: it produces more volume of the same problem.
A tool without criteria produces options. Criteria without a tool produce slowness. Together they produce a system.
What to look at in your brand
Before your next large investment, three questions are worth answering. Have you seen the result before paying for it, or only described it? Do you know what you will leave out, and why? Does the decision come from your brand’s identity, or from what the tool has shown you?
If the answer to the first is no, you are deciding blind. Getting a projection wrong costs hours. Getting a building wrong costs the investment.
